In 1980, Patrick Mervin + Associates began providing Architectural Design and Construction services in the Napa and Sonoma Counties as well as the greater San Francisco Bay Area. Over the past three decades, we have produced more than 130 residential and commercial projects throughout the State of California providing full Architectural services as well as Construction Observation services to our projects. Past projects include wineries, wine caves, community centers, custom residences, large and small residential remodels, historic restorations, commercial infill, tenant improvements and many more projects. While we are very capable of producing larger projects, we are by AIA standards, a small office, and this allows us to maintain direct personal attention and contact with our clients and their projects.
Because our clients look to us for a unique perspective to their project, we bring our imagination and expertise to every project that we work on - from the very beginning design sketches to the completed building. We know that our clients seek our services as architects not only because of our design skills, but because we focus on meeting our client's architectural program with unique designs that are possible within the reality of the project budget. Our design projects always include the client as a partner in the design process. We emphasize integrated architecture with energy efficient design, constructability, and cost effectiveness.
On every project we first develop a scope of work by establishing goals, design criteria, architectural programming, and project budget and project time frame. From this solid base we then develop schematic designs that begin the process of translating the realm of ideas into functioning structures. A best case schematic design is then developed thoroughly in preparation for Construction Drawings. Prior to the construction cycle, our designs are represented by clear and complete Construction Drawings prepared in collaboration with our project consultants. With a three decade background in construction and building technology we are known among builders for the quality of our Construction Documents and qualified, competent builders readily build our projects without difficulty. We participate in the entire construction cycle and provide the Owner and the Builder with support as needed to insure the timely and successful completion of the construction phase of the project.
